Torex announces partnership with TOSHIBA TEC to bring to market an affordable and durable POS solution specifically designed for the hospitality market DUNSTABLE, UK – June 2010: Torex™, the leading global provider of innovative, integrated technology solutions to the extended retail marketplace, today announces the launch of an affordable, durable and robust POS system for hospitality, developed in partnership with global hardware specialists TOSHIBA TEC Corporation. The Torex™ WILLPOS A12 builds on the functionality and renowned reliability of TOSHIBA TEC’s award-winning WILLPOS A10. Competitively priced, the new design modifications include lowering the embedded screen and a tilting screen for easy visibility. The amount of memory available for the product has been increased to allow software applications to be added to the system as required. The ruggedised design of the POS system, with its sealed touch screen, is designed to withstand the spillages and knocks which this technology is likely to be exposed to within hospitality environments. It has an ultra-small footprint that incorporates a wide range of features, offering exceptionally easy maintenance with click-on access to its outer casing and components. Steve Rowley, Chief Executive, Torex comments, “Through listening to the needs of our customers in the hospitality industry, we’ve identified a strong demand for a robust and affordable hardware option to replace their aging hardware systems. As a global leader in developing state-of-the-art hardware, TOSHIBA TEC is the perfect partner for us. We feel confident that the Torex™ WILLPOS A12 will be the ideal fit for many hospitality environments.” Nobuhiko Takao, CEO TOSHIBA TEC Europe, adds, “Torex is well known and respected for its expertise in the hospitality market. It made sense for us to use our collective insight into this market to develop a product that would deliver real value.” The system has already been deployed by one of the world’s largest ferry companies, Stena Line. Anders Claesson, IT Demand Manger for Onboard Services from Stena Line explains, “It is great that Torex and TOSHIBA TEC have paid so much attention to the practical needs of those who will operate this technology. Our staff really appreciate the large, clear screen with its adjustable angle and optimum height level. They have also commented on the fact that it is more reliable and faster when carrying out transactions than our previous system.” About Torex Torex is the leading global provider of innovative, integrated technology solutions to the extended retail marketplace.
