TOSHIBA TEC appoints Klaus Smets General Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Global company puts trust in local management: TOSHIBA TEC appoints Klaus Smets General Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Krefeld, October 1 2009 – TOSHIBA TEC today announced that Klaus Smets has been named General Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The appointment is effective immediately.

Klaus will lead the company’s growth in Europe’s key market region by driving clients’ sales, marketing and business development activities for its three divisions: Retail, Auto ID & Printing and Services. He takes over the helm from Nobuhiko Takao who has been appointed CEO and President TOSHIBA TEC Europe and who is now based in Brussels.

“The appointment of a European at the head of a regional sales office underlines the drive to focus and to strengthen the regional and local knowledge in the organisation by TOSHIBA TEC,” Klaus Smets said. “The connection between leading edge technology and deep understanding of local market requirements is a key ingredient for market growth. My focus will be to bring new ideas and innovation to the company’s regional business development efforts to ensure that our customers come first, all the time.”

Klaus (44) is a 20-year veteran of the company and most recently served as the Auto ID & Printing Division director for Central and Eastern Europe and the Nordics.
