TOSHIBA TEC Celebrates 60th Anniversary at EUROCIS 2010 with new Mobile Shopping Experience and smart Retail Waste Management solutions DUSSELDORF, Germany, January 2010 – TOSHIBA TEC Europe is to celebrate in style at EUROCIS 2010 with a new line up of ‘Green’ EPOS systems for cost-conscious retailers, an impressive waste reduction solution for fresh produce and the latest Mobile Shopping Experience on display. “Since our first day of trading 60 years ago we learnt and continue to learn that we can only gain from closer dialogue and collaboration with retailers all over the world. Together we deliver what every shopper expects: an attractive shopping experience with excellent service and an efficient customer care program,” Nobuhiko Takao, CEO TOSHIBA TEC Europe said. “We are Nr 1 in Asia and rank worldwide among the Top 3 retail solution providers precisely because our customers value our global approach in a local way. What we bring to the table is food for thought for smart retailers. We hope you will enjoy EUROCIS 2010 with us!” Fresh Food Waste reduction up to 50 percent The question is: “How to keep my fresh produce rotated at the counter while minimizing my waste?” The focus of the waste management process is to analyze sales rates and stock levels to execute predefined measures that deal with overstock or imminent out-of-stock situations. An ongoing trial at a major Dutch food retailer is generating high level business intelligence to reduce fresh produce waste by up to 50 percent. Capgemini and TOSHIBA TEC teamed up to implement this innovative cash-generating solution. In another advanced retail technology solution, TOSHIBA TEC is rolling out their Mobile Shopping Experience. The solution is built around a handheld data capture device to allow shoppers to scan and bag while they shop. TOSHIBA TEC’s storeMate retail software suite is integrated into the retailer’s ERP system to allow retailers to efficiently use the captured data in various new ways to increase revenue. The MSE solution allows for connectivity with every other third-party hardware EPOS system. A first milestone at the launch customer was reached after two weeks of operation as 40 percent of all shoppers were using the MSE system, allowing for 60 percent of the total turnover to be generated through the MSE solution! The storeMate roadmap includes integration of a ‘merchandise server’ to allow consumers to obtain on-the-spot information delivery, personalized promotional offers and cross as well as upselling possibilities. WILLPOS B10 EUROCIS 2010 will also see the official European launch of the new WILLPOS B10 Touch POS solution. The WILLPOS B10 is the latest addition to the WILLPOS touch screen family and is aimed at new market segments thanks to its very small footprint, ease of use and low power consumption. Bakeries, Hairdressers and other smaller food and non-food outlets have now the opportunity to acquire a long-lasting POS solution with all the features and advantages of Toshiba at a very convenient price point. Klaus Smets, Branch Manager TOSHIBA TEC Germany is very pleased with the strong partnership presence at EUROCIS 2010: “I believe it underlines our strong commitment to the retail industry that in good and in bad times, we are here to serve our customers in the best possible way to profitability.
