Framework Agreement on POS Terminals, Peripherals and Maintenance Services for the entire EDEKA organisation until 2015 Krefeld, October 2011 – EDEKA, one of Germany’s largest supermarket organisations, announced it has selected TOSHIBA TEC as a strategic POS supplier. The framework agreement includes all regional EDEKA supermarkets as well as discount stores Netto Marken-Discount and will run until 2015. TOSHIBA TEC offers a five-year guarantee for its installed POS base and will deliver scheduled and preventive maintenance services for both its own as well as third-party hardware at EDEKA. EDEKA agreed on a dual vendor strategy for POS systems as part of their IT vendor consolidation with Toshiba being selected to support EDEKA Group on POS terminals, peripherals and maintenance services. Such a comprehensive retail technology agreement will allow all IT decision-makers at all EDEKA shops in Germany - including independent EDEKA supermarkets - to implement their tailor-made TOSHIBA WILLPOS B20. The WILLPOS B20 is specifically designed to minimize energy consumption as one of many other state of the art retail technologies on board. “TOSHIBA TEC convinced us during the selection procedure by going the extra mile in their professional and flexible approach to the very specific needs of the EDEKA organisation,” Michaela Fischer-Zernin, spokesperson for EDEKA AG said. “Very few IT vendors have such a vast in-house expertise in R&D, manufacturing, sales and services as TOSHIBA TEC,” Ulrich Hieber, Divisional Manager Retail at TOSHIBA TEC said. “EDEKA will draw plenty of benefits from our flexible approach to their retail needs; the fact that we build a tailor-made WILLPOS B20 POS system for them is a fine example.”
