TOKYO/BRUSSELS, August 2010 – TOSHIBA TEC today announced the availability of its 2010 CSR Report, which discusses sustainability activities and progress. It is the Company's 11th annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report and provides a summary of the Company's sustainability strategy and highlights. "We see corporate citizenship, or sustainability, not as a set of 'add-ons' to our business but rather as intrinsic to everything we do," says Mamoru Suzuki, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our mission is reflected in the way we run our business around the world, every day." TOSHIBA TEC made CSR related capital investments of approximately 30 million yen and expenses of approximately 880 million yen on a consolidated basis. Investments were made especially toward global warming prevention and energy-saving measures. Benefits resulted in 1.8 billion yen. Decrease in production and further measures to reduce the organisation’s environmental impact contributed to the increase of benefits over the previous year. Greater benefits arose from the reduction of environmental impacts at the product usage phase. The annual report covers the social, environmental and business impacts of the company’s sustainability efforts, from managing our environmental impact in meaningful ways, contributing to society through "Monozukuri" or by creating Environmentally-conscious products. Each section includes coverage of major topics of interest as well as corresponding performance pages with data-driven information. Consideration was given to the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) 2010 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines (G3 Guidelines). An index maps GRI indicators with content areas as well as where to find related material on the Company’s website at http://www.toshibatec.co.jp/pdf/corporate_eng/csr/report/gri01.pdf.
