All-in one connectivity, small ecological footprint and seamless integration put quality label stamp on Toshiba barcode printers MADRID, October 2011 – Correos, Spain’s state-controlled postal services provider, selected TOSHIBA TEC’s intelligent barcode printing solution to sort and track packages.
Committed to enhancing the benefits of intelligent barcode, Correos has ordered 2.242 Toshiba B-EV4D barcode printers which are being installed at its postal offices and at business client premises throughout Spain, in combination with the Toshiba SA4TP printers which are being deployed at its regional logistics centers.
Business users and Correos will gain end-to-end visibility into the mailstream through the use of the suite of Toshiba’s intelligent mail barcodes and by submitting electronic documentation, which will create actionable information about mail for marketing, financial and operational environments.
In addition to the extremely easy integration of the Toshiba barcode printers into the Correos IT infrastructure, Spain’s largest postal services provider insisted a compliance with its stringent “green” policy in the selection procedure. The very low energy consumption in its daily use in combination with the fact that Toshiba’s business printers enjoy a long operational life that can go over 10 years - were key performance indicators for Correos.
Toshiba will also provide maintenance services to keep Correos’s intelligent barcode printer solution fully operational throughout its lifecycle.
Easy Integration Toshiba barcode printers are fully compliant with the Open Standards requirement for software, allowing for enterprises to seamlessly integrate every Toshiba printer into their existing IT infrastructure, without the need for extra investment.
Green The Toshiba barcode printer series are all compliant with Correos’ ‘Environmental Excellence Plan’, a corporate strategic plan outlining its commitment to the environment by placing sustainability as a strategic line of action and a corporate value. Correos decided to implement the best social and environmental practices in both its own activity and with agreements and contracts signed with suppliers and technology partners, getting them involved in responsible behaviour to reduce CO2 emissions, for example. Toshiba’s B-EV4D barcode printer consumes barely 2.25W in sleep mode and has an excellent track record for saving on consumables while the SNMP remote management system allows for further energy reduction. This way Correos’s return on investment is secure on both the operational side as well as on the maintenance side – further reducing the CO2 footprint with less need for technicians to go on site for repair or maintenance duties.
