TOSHIBA TEC and 3M enter alliance to compete and win new business in EMEA

GLASGOW/BRUSSELS, August 2009 – TOSHIBA TEC, providers of leading edge Auto ID solutions have entered into a strategic agreement with 3M™ for Thermal Transfer Printable Label Materials to help channel partners identify, secure and win new Auto ID business related to industrial manufacturing, healthcare, government, automotive, transportation and retail industries in the EMEA region.

The partnership combines TOSHIBA TEC industry-leading RFID-ready thermal barcode printers with 3M's durable thermal transfer printable label materials, enabling a strong, comprehensive solution targeted at selected vertical market applications in Europe.

“Our strategic alliance with 3M allows us to initiate research and development projects as well as viability testing of new product identification applications.

“Our partnership with 3M ensures that label products will be engineered precisely to the requested application with the highest quality resources available in the industry today,” Masamichi Kusunoki, CEO and President TOSHIBA TEC Europe said. “On the hardware side, our B-SX600 600 dpi industrial printer is a strong performer in the extremely high-demanding Japanese market and the domestic industrial standard for name plate printing.”

The TOSHIBA TEC B-SX600 600 dpi thermal label printer is purpose-built for 24/7 heavy duty in industrial manufacturing, automotive, electrical, wire and cable identification, health care, defense and transportation (aerospace, rail, public transport).

“TOSHIBA TEC’s barcode label printer series excelled in the testing procedures carried out in our cUL accredited test laboratory in the UK and all label stock materials and Toshiba ribbons meet the cUL Product Marking standard,” Gianfranco de Gregorio, 3M Industrial Adhesive and Tapes Division Business Unit Director for EMEA said. “We have dedicated expert resource geared to support our collaboration with our partners to be able to respond quickly to earn business and drive more sales across the Auto ID sales channel."
